… Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! … - Luke 24:5-6
Read Luke 24:1-12
He is risen! He is risen indeed!
Forty-six days ago, we embarked on a spiritual journey of reflection and repentance. We walked through the desert of Lent, confronting our brokenness and longing for renewal. We’ve considered the cost and consequences of sin. But today is different, everything has changed—Christ has risen!
The cross is behind him. The tomb is empty. He reigns victorious, seated at the right hand of God. We are no longer separated from God. The relationship broken in the Garden of Eden has been restored. Now we live, as Dallas Willard called it, “the with-God life”—that abundant life Jesus promised (John 10:10).
This is the day we’ve been waiting for—Resurrection Sunday. The grave is empty, death is defeated, and Jesus is alive! Throw off the weight of sorrow and fasting. It is time to celebrate. This day is the fulfillment of every hope, every promise, every longing. Rejoice in freedom from oppression, rescue from captivity, release from bondage, victory over darkness, and most of all … new life in Christ! Rejoice in the triumph of good over evil and the power of God’s love to conquer death.
This day is light … life … unconditional love … boundless grace. Lift your voice in praise—your Savior lives.
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
Heavenly Father, I rejoice and give thanks for the empty tomb that declares your boundless love and redeeming power, for Christ’s victory over sin and death. I celebrate the new life you have given me through Jesus, my risen Savior—may my life be a reflection of this glorious truth! Amen.
